I had a try at the Crescent and Cross supplement today, courtesy of Ralph at the Plymouth club who is one of the official play testers, using an 8 point force and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Mind you, it took a while for me to get my head around the battle board for the Military Order (Teutonic Order) force I was using, so my thanks to Ralph for his patience!

Based on what Ralph has explained to me and the game today, I think it's going to be very good and I can't wait!

More figures to paint though.......

Actually it's Cross and Crescent.

Brett is too modest to include the fact that he won, killing my warlord in the last turn.

Nice figures. Is it a supplement to Saga or is it going to be a new rulebook?

It will be stand alone, but compatible with the original rule set. Some of the main rules will be tidied up and clarified to incorporate the errata and FAQ, so in a way it could be regarded as a new edition of the old rules. There will be some new scenarios to try out, and six factions. I'm looking forward to the fact that some of the old factions do cross over and were historical opponents, such as the Byzantines for instance. Even the Vikings encountered Islamic armies in Spain, and the Franks pushed an Islamic intrusion out of France at the battle of Poitiers, so there are a lot of new combinations, and of course nothing to stop you playing unhistorical matches.

Thanks for that :) Are you allowed to say what factions are going to be included?

Not in public, but Brett could tell you by word of mouth. Some of them are pretty obvious choices anyway.
